Phil announces Tim Mickelson’s retirement as his brother’s caddie

Nearly seven years after his split with his bagman of 25 years, Bones Mackay, in June 2017, Phil Mickelson announced Tuesday that his younger brother Tim Mickelson is leaving his job as his caddie to spend more time with his family.

When Tim first took on the role of Phil’s caddie in 2018, he had just left his job as the men’s college golf coach at Arizona State to become Jon Rahm’s agent. During his time working for Rahm, Tim quickly gained a reputation for being one of the most talented and dedicated agents in the game.

However, when Phil offered him a chance to be his caddie in 2018, Tim jumped at the opportunity and has been working closely with him ever since. Over the past eight years, they have shared many great moments both on and off the course.

Tim’s departure from caddying means that he can now focus on spending more time with his family as their lives evolve. His brother’s new partner Maranda is expecting their second child soon, and Tim wants to be there for them every step of the way.

Mickelson expressed gratitude for all of the hard work and dedication that Tim brought to their partnership over the past eight years. He wishes him all the best in whatever he chooses to do next.
