Kaua‘i District Health Office Invites Community to Open House Celebrating National Public Health Week

The Kaua‘i District Health Office is excited to host an open house to celebrate National Public Health Week. The event will take place on April 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the district office located at 3040 Umi St. in Līhuʻe. This free event aims to provide the public with an opportunity to learn about various programs and actions that community members can take to address public health challenges, as well as public health career and educational opportunities.

During the open house, attendees will have the chance to speak with Hawai‘i State Department of Health staff from different departments such as vector control, administrative services, community health workers, public health nurses, epidemiologists, mental health professionals, food safety inspectors, disabilities case managers, and microbiologists. The event will also include interactive activities and presentations that aim to educate visitors about public health issues in Kaua‘i and across the United States.

National Public Health Week is an annual event that invites communities across the country to explore the many programs and services offered by the DOH to improve their well-being. Kaua‘i District Health Officer Dr. Janet Berreman expressed her excitement about welcoming everyone at the event and thanking the community and partners for their continued support in building a thriving and healthy Kaua‘i. By working together to create opportunities for understanding and supporting public health, everyone benefits from a stronger community.

As part of this year’s theme of Protecting, Connecting, and Thriving: We Are All Public Health,” DOH staff will be present at the open house event to highlight critical issues related to improving public health in Kaua‘i such as environmental hazards, infectious diseases prevention, healthy lifestyles promotion, mental health awareness campaigns and more.

Community members are encouraged to attend this free event and learn more about how they can contribute towards creating a healthier future for themselves and their families through various initiatives offered by the DOH.

Join us on April 5th at 3040 Umi St., Līhuʻe for a fun-filled day of learning!
