GSA Introduces Newest Class of Presidential Innovation Fellows with Focus on Technology Upgrades

The General Services Administration (GSA) has announced the members of the first of two Presidential Innovation Fellows (PIF) cohorts to be launched this year. As a part of Technology Transformation Services, PIF recruits technology and innovation leaders from the private sector and embeds them at various federal agencies. They serve as strategic advisers supporting government leaders as they address national priorities.

This year’s first cohort, consisting of 21 fellows, is focused on technology modernization goals. These innovators will collaborate with agency leaders to improve service delivery for the American people in their times of need. They bring a wealth of knowledge and experience from the private sector to help government agencies modernize their technology infrastructure and stay competitive in today’s fast-paced world.

A second cohort launching this summer will focus on artificial intelligence in support of the Executive Order on the Safe, Secure and Trustworthy Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence. This cohort will work closely with federal agencies to ensure that AI technologies are developed responsibly and ethically, while also leveraging their capabilities to solve some of the nation’s most pressing challenges.

GSA Administrator Robin Carnahan expressed excitement about how these innovators will use their skills for the public good. She emphasized that PIF was launched in 2012 with the goal of recruiting over 250 fellows who would make significant contributions to public service. These include enhancing data sharing at the Department of Veterans Affairs and supporting technology modernization at the Department of Justice. Overall, PIF continues to play an important role in driving innovation across government agencies, while also ensuring that taxpayers receive high-quality services that meet their needs.
