MOSTI delves into hydrogen technology for transportation sector

The Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry (MOSTI) is concentrating its efforts on examining the potential applications of hydrogen technology, specifically in the transportation sector. Their ultimate goal is to boost the adoption of hydrogen technology in Malaysia by collaborating with relevant ministries and agencies, thereby fostering a community of end-users in the country.

Recently, MOSTI organized a demonstration session at the lobby of the Investment, Trade, and Industry Ministry, with Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli, Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, and Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz present. The event aimed to highlight the capabilities of hydrogen technology in transportation aligned with Malaysia’s commitment to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050 as outlined in the Hydrogen Economy and Technology Roadmap (HETR).

Furthermore, MOSTI plans to collaborate with private sector entities to establish a mobile hydrogen refueling station. This initiative will not only showcase the skills and expertise of local talent but also position Malaysia as a leader in the hydrogen economy.
