‘Schedule of Citizen Science Trainings for Seasonal Signs’

The Signs of the Seasons citizen science project, a statewide initiative aimed at identifying and recording cyclical and seasonal changes in over 20 indicator species, is set to kick off next week with a series of workshops. Milkweed, butterflies, and loons are just a few of the crucial species that play a vital role in understanding Maine’s changing climate.

The first training session will take place on April 4 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. in Brunswick at Stimpson’s Point. Another session will follow on April 5 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Gilsland Farm Audubon Center in Falmouth. For those unable to attend in person, a 3-part webinar series will also be available.

The workshops are open to anyone interested in participating and are completely free of charge
